Brandy's Birthday Bash

It was JJ's girlfriends birthday, so we all got together to celebrate. It is always a joy getting together with the family. Cooper and Kennedy always keep the party going and I have had the pleasure of taking the grandparents up the last couple times. It is so fun to hear their stories and listen to their opinions on sports, politics and what not. Anyway we had a fabulous dinner, and chocolate cake. Usually candles don't make the Jenkins family cakes, but since I stopped at the grocery store I picked up a few. So thirty six candles later, when we asked Kennedy was going on she said "FIRE".

It was pretty funny. Cooper and Kennedy were so involved in picking the candles off the cake, and when Kennedy cleared a few, she could no longer resist the temptation and just put her whole hand on in the cake and licked it. Classic moment.

Early in the night she had stripped to her spaghetti strap tank, and so with boogers, frosting, juice and with all the other kid stuff she looked pretty WT as Emily said. Brandy got some cute gifts and we had some funny laughs. Cooper was big into collecting the wrapping paper and constructing projects.

JJ and Brandy

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!

At DownEast Outfitters in Orem they have two of the most amazing pieces of furniture that I have seen in a long time. If I had the money I would buy them immediately. Although they are cheaper than they originally were I still had to refrain.
This vintage looking one is just amazing. Oh the dreams I can have.

This red delightful piece is just wonderful and even better that it is my favorite color that barn red.

Flowers

I received beautiful flowers yesterday and they are sitting in my kitchen. The Lilly's smell just wonderful and so when you walk in the kitchen it smells fabulous.

THANK YOU!!!

Oh the good things....

So I was telling Ashley that I have some weird theories. One of which is that I think peoples noses are only big enough for their own fingers to fit in them. Sick, weird, suspicious, whatever you want to call it... this I all know (it is a weird theory). No I am not a big nose picker. I actually usually don't even get boogers. So anyway I really think that each person's finger is proportionate to their nose. The thumbs are probably the perfect fit.

What caused me to think of this was my still hurting nose. After explaining it to a few people I was tortured mercifully. So my nose is just recovering from so that. See only my fingers fit in my nose, so when some larger fatter fingers poked and prodded...well the nose was feeling sore.
Yes I am quirky.

On a lighter note... while at a high school taking a few pictures of something we want to make for Apx, I was asked if I knew where a room was. On top of that the parent pointed that I had a very nice phone for a high school student (I was taking pictures with my phone). Yes I was mistaken for a high school student today. Horrible.

So a joke for Someone:
Q:Why did the radish blush
A: Because it saw the salad dressing

Anyway Goodnight and Good Luck! (or something like that)

Throwdown Fight

So last night was the ThrowDown Fight at the Energy Solutions Arena. Since my work was a huge sponsor I got to go. I was very fortunate to be sitting on the front table ringside so I got to see everything up close. I have never been to a fight or really seen them a whole lot of TV, but that sport is brutal. Sitting so close I could hear the noises from the punches and slaps.

In the third match a guy took a super hard hit to his face. So hard that his mouth piece flew out of his mouth. The fighter started freaking out yelling that the ref needed to find it. He was frantically looking around the ring. He was after his tooth that had fallen out and landed right in front of me. It was so gross. He was so concerned about his tooth and for no reason. It's not like the dentist was going to put it back in. Anyway it was pretty gross.

I was so close to the fighting that I could smell the fighters.
The pictures below are of two heavyweight guys. It was an intense fight. Both were undefeated and they put on a great fight. The pictures don't even do justice, but at the end there was blood everywhere. Early in the fight one of the guys took a nice hit to his forehead, causing a huge blood bath between the two fighters. By the end of the fight the guy couldn't open his left eye and his face was swollen. Madness... what these guys do to themselves. The pictures don't really display the real thing, but the red tint on their skins is blood.

This is the ring after they were done. Yes that is right in front of my seat.

One of the fighters was a kid I went to high school with Sean O'Connell. He put up a really good fight. It was really hard to see someone I personally know fight, but still was a good match.

The hardest thing for me was not watching the punches fly, or the blood running down their faces, but watching guys get pinned and choked until they give up or pass out. Seeing their faces go red and them have their eyes roll back was so hard. There were a few concussions that clearly took place and it was hard to watch the guys be completely lost as to where they were.
Overall it was a good night. They fight went past 1:00 p.m. and I haven't been out that late for a long time.

Pizzeria.... Yummmm

Tonight the roomies and I went to Pizzeria Seven Twelve for dinner. I always love going there and the food is always so amazing. It was so relaxing just sitting and talking and what better way than with fine dining.
My VERY sweet neighbor from across the street did my yard work today. Starky has been one of those neighbors that is always doing things around my house for me. Unfortunately I am always at work and never get to see him doing any of it. Luckily Ashley is home during the day so she is so kind to tell me when he does things. I always feel bad because he does so much like cut my trees branches, rake my leaves, shovel my walks, push my snow off my car port, and most recently cleaned up my whole yard. All the trash I had been saving up for my HUGE dump run is now gone. The pile of leaves that have been in the front yard since fall and now gone. On top of all of that I had my house appraised so I had the whole inside spic and span clean. Thanks to Ashley for helping me clean the house. It is relaxing and so stress free to come home to a very clean house inside and out!
Thank you Stary!!

Overload

So continually I take pictures of funny things I see on my phone. I always mean to write a post about them and lately I haven't gotten around to it. Anyway I thought it was about time.
So in my travels there was a sight dog that boarded the plane with this lady. As I was sitting next to this guy we were discussing where the dog is kept and how that works. Anyway I never saw the dog which means it was probably put below, but interesting. He was a sweet, very calm dog (unlike Millie). Cute little dog laid down and would get all settled and then his owner would rummage through her bag from an item and he would get up and be all concerned and make sure she got what she needed. It was awesome to watch.

One of my pet peeves is after it snows and people don't scrape their car window.... Now it isn't just that they don't scrape their car windows but more that they don't scrape them and then drive all cautious, slow, and as if they can't see what is going on around them. This lady was a perfect example the other day. We cruised a good 5 mph down the road and she waited a good 3 minutes to turn the corner (yes I had time to get my phone out, take a picture and then some). It was crazy. I about lost my mind. Scrape your car and drive safe people!!
Nothing can top this for the week. I was on the phone with my mom and am driving down 500 east when I see Pac Man and the Pac Man's ghost walking across the cross walk. I broke out in laughter. I hurried and hung up the phone to snap a few photos. I didn't do very well, but I tried my hardest. It was hilarious. As I flipped around to go see if I could get a better picture they disappeared. I have no idea where they went, but I was sad. Anyway I got a good laugh.
My last great news was that I found some killer deals on some clothes. I usually don't do a lot of clothes shopping, but the following items I couldn't resist. Downeast is a wonderful store!!!
This awesome Diesel Jacket I got for a killer deal and love the off center buttons.

This green coat was super cheap and looks really cute

And this American Eagle long sleeve shirt was $7.99, plus 50% off. That is what I am talkin about.

The last great item was a pair of Big Star Buckle jeans that I love. They fit so well and I didn't even have to pay the Buckle price!

Just my luck

So it just seems never to be my good luck days. Yesterday while in Salt Lake I ran over three nails that must have been perfectly placed to puncture my back left tire. All three within inches of each other. At seven thirty at night, there was not a single shop open at that time so I raced to Costco. Well I have a love/hate relationship with them right now. One of my favorite stores, but they don't service any tires unless you purchased them from Costco. Horrible. So I had the pleasure of placing my element in the outside lane and driving 50 mph the whole way home on my spare tire. Bright and early this morning I took my tire to Discount Tire since I just bought new tires from them not so long ago. Well $100 dollars later and one new tire I had hoped to have my car fixed. Oh wait they had to order it in... so as I raced back after work I got there just in time to get the new tire put on. A few stops later and I finally got to head home. What a day.

Bedroom Remodel Comes to a Close

So I can't remember if I have posted the finished product of my room remodel. This could be because it is has been a good three month project, but today I FINALLY I finished the last few touches on my room. It is all clean and feels good to done. So I thought I would post a few pictures. I love the new floor (although Millie's hair is more visible now) and I love my VERY yellow wall. I also like the fun colors of my bedspread. Definitely not the typical colors I would have picked, but glad I went with something different. I haven't gotten sick of it or wished I had gone with something else so that is a good sign. I built my bed, which I am very glad I did. I needed more storage space and it does just the job. I think it help me relieve a clutter mess that used to go on in my room. Now everything has a place and can be stored away. I also think through this whole process it has allowed my room to feel more open and larger.

The storage under the bed hides all my folded clothes, which is nice.

These HOOKS are great to get all my bags and purses up off the ground. Before they used to be all over the place.

I hung this bar so I could get things like scarves, jackets, and what not off the floor. It has also been really nice to hang clothes to dry.

I love this mirror. I purchased it my freshman year of college and it just sat at my parents house until I got my house. I really wanted to do black in my room, but I couldn't part with my brown mirror.

I know this is a picture of a picture, but the picture is a photo I took in Portofina, Italy and I just love it. When I remodeled the room I was glad that it went with my color scheme so well. I made the frame and painted it with this awesome textured brown paint. I really love it.

For someone who doesn't wear jewelry all that often I sure have a lot of it. I call it my organized clutter.

I love this cube piece of furniture. I also love the fun COLOR cubes that you can buy to go in the spaces.

Millie loves the new bed. It is a lot easier for her to get up and down from and I couldn't resist taking this picture. She just looks so adorable sitting there.

My itty bitty closet.

Still my favorite part of my room is the old school lamp.

I LOVE LAMP!!

Spidey....

The HUGEST spider was on my ceiling tonight and I freaked out. I saw the creepy thing and immediately froze. My next instinct was to scream for Ashley (I am glad she was home to save me). Anyone who knows me, will understand that I have this fear of spiders. They give me the willies. I literally go crazy. With rats, squirrels, ferrets, porcupines, or any other rodents and I am fine, but one little small spider and I WIG!!! Anyway Ashley came running in the room to me laying on the floor freaking out. What came out of her mouth was nothing but laughter as she realized it was all for a spider. Pathetic that as a grown woman I am terrified of spiders. Anyway she grabbed a calendar and killed him. Not before I could take a picture. ( Ok he was really big. This picture makes him look pretty small, but he wasn't TRUST ME!)

This is what the punk looked like after she killed him. DISGUSTING!!! Even looking at the picture to write this blog is giving me goosebumps.

My I have a restful sleep now. THANK YOU ASHLEY!!

Bathroom sink for the future...

So Friday was an abnormal day in that I peed four times, three times more than I usually do. No you probably are thinking I don't drink enough, but I do. I am just that way. Anyway while in the bathroom I realized I want to design my sink (when I am rich and building my own home that is). That is right... I want to design my own sink. Oh the things I would be designing if I had the funds. The reason for wanting to design my own sink... well I hate it when you go into the bathroom and there is water on the counter because you had to pass your wet hands over the counter to get soap. I know weird. I am the type of person that will wipe up the water every time. So the solution is to design my own sink. Anyway after the third time of going to wash my hands and seeing this I realized I had to take a picture.

Oh the good old days..

So I was driving home today and reminiscing. What caused it... Well I made a phone call to my parents house. Now for the last little while I have been unsuccessful in contacting anyone when I have called their home phone. Definitely a change from I don't know, say a year ago. You used to never be able to get a hold of my parents on their cell phones. So a very drastic change. Anyway after I called the house I let out a little chuckle. What came to mind... how my parents use to make us kids answer the phone. That is right, we used to have to answer the phone:

"Jenkins residence this is Lacy speaking. How may I help you...."
It was horrible. I think we all complained enough, or maybe it was that we would never answer the phone and they finally changed it. It probably really had something to do with us getting older as well. Anyway it was funny.

Sunny Saturday

It was a really nice day. I woke up and went for a really nice run. Again it was a beautiful day and I had no complaints, except that I am out of shape. After my run I did a nice yoga video and really loved it.

We had lunch at Heidi's Brooklyn Deli and it was delicious. In the parking lot was this awesome car. I love how the back tires are half covered. So classy.

Alex sported this shirt all day and it was pretty funny. I have no idea where he got it, but he was pretty proud of it!

We drove out to what they call Zerker Loop and it was a really cool afternoon. Basically it is was just country roads. The first part was fields of oil rigs. The second half was fields of Orange, Clementine, Grape Vines, and Walnut Trees. Either way you looked at the rows they are perfectly aligned. It made for some really good pictures.

Grapevine Rows

The sunset was beautiful and the pictures don't even do it justice.

We may have taken a few of the oranges and clementines to eat. They smelled so good we couldn't resist. Oh and they taste splendid.

Love this pic

Alex had planned to go to dinner at a Basque restaurant for dinner. We had eaten a late lunch so we weren't really hungry. It was pretty funny reading the menu with Alex. He was reading Shish Kabob and asked what that was. I was kind of chuckling, but it only got better. He was reading the top of what was included with dinner. The list read as:

Includes: Bread, Soup, Pink Beans, Hot Sauce, Hors D'oeuvres,Vegetable, French Fries, Spaghetti

After hot sauce he read "Horse" "Dorves". At first I thought he was joking around, but when I called him out on it he looked at me all weird. He didn't know that written word Hors D'oeurvres meant the appetizer thing. I was hysterically laughing. He was really sweet to let me get a good laugh at his expense. It was pretty funny. Overall it was a really nice day.
