So Saturday morning I woke up at 6:30 a.m. I couldn't sleep (that never happens). So I got up and cleaned the house and then headed to home depot early to start a yard project. As I was driving down 700 east I saw this car in the driveway of the neighbors house. It reminded me of the fun, good old days when I was in college. This is something I would have so done! It gave me a good laugh so I stopped and took a picture.

Yep... That is post it notes all over the car.The car in front of that was seran wrapped. So awesome. Now I want to do this to someone.

Summer Saturday

Today was a great day.. We went to Deer Creek Lake for a swim. Millie and I can't get enough of lake outings together. It was a lot of fun. I decided to get in an open water swim as well. So after throwing the ball for an hour and getting Millie exhausted, I tied her to a bush and went for a swim. The water was slightly cold.., (I didn't wear my wetsuit).. but it felt good. Felt good to train in open water.

Millie swimming! She is a little fish.. Ok she really is a lab, but she loves the water. She LOVES playing fetch, and LOVES water so playing fetch into the lake is sure Bliss for her!

The weather was perfect. Blue skies and smooth water.

On the way home Millie was exhausted. She could hardly stand up on the front seat. She finally broke down and layed down. She keep falling asleep sitting up. When I would slow down she would give me the stink eye! Poor dog!

She finally fell asleep and it was so funny. Love my dog!!

I love summer and taking Millie to the lake. Being in the water is her favorite thing. Anytime we are near water she dives in and I have a really hard time getting her out.

It was a beautiful day and I was just as happy to be outside in the sun.

Millie gets really distracted by the ducks.. She almost caught one!

Can't wait for many more summer trips to the lake...

New Front Door

I ordered custom doors several weeks ago. They finally got done and my front door was installed. So much better!

I love it.. And new door lock was installed. It is linked to my alarm and activates and deactivated my alarm. GO VIVINT!

Truths for Mature Humans....

Saw these are some of them are exactly how I feel so I thought I post some of them.

Truths For Mature Humans
1. I think part of a best friend’s job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.
2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you’re wrong.
3. I totally take back all those times I didn’t want to nap when I was younger.
4. There is great need for a sarcasm font.
5. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
6. Was learning cursive really necessary?
7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on # 5. I’m pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.
9. I can’t remember the last time I wasn’t at least kind of tired.
10. Bad decisions make good stories.
11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren’t going to do anything productive for the rest of the day.
12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don’t want to have to restart my collection…again.

I should be excited....

Boise is in 4 days and I should be SO excited to do my tri, but really I am just SICK.. and by sick I mean really sick. I have had a cold for a solid 7 days now. So when I should be excited for my tri, I am just now straight up nervous. I am not nervous because of training or anything, but because I am still sick I don't know if I can race with my body like this. I went to the doctor this morning and they are making me get a chest x-ray to make sure I don't have pneumonia. So I pray I don't... not to mention I hope that my body takes a huge turn and gets feeling better.

Let's hope after two today that my lungs don't look like this!

U2 Concert

Last Tuesday I went to the U2 concert. It was one of those concerts that you have on your "concerts I want to see before I die". I was so excited that they were finally actually coming to town. The show was AMAZING.

The stage was huge... and a show in itself.

I knew Bono was getting old, but I didn't realize he was 51. He is looking good for his age!

Oh and Edge isn't so bad looking himself!

It was a great night. Tony and Karen, Brandy and JJ were there and it was fun to be with the brothers.

Stump be gone

I hired a guy to come stump my huge tree I took out. It was so fast. He just pulled up, stumped the tree. It was only $80 for him to do it and before I knew it he as gone.

Now I am just left with a lot of wood chips! (I am not complaining). Now the rest of my fence can go in on the south side.

Never a dull moment around my house....

There never seems to be a dull moment around the house. It is always one thing or another. I came home the other day to my dog missing.... That is not the unusual. This time was particularly odd because Millie decided to jump the fence with her her collar on. I can only imagine she about killed herself with this stunt, but she managed to slip out of her collar and survive. Oh the joys of my dog.

The behind the scenes side of this story is that since her collar was not on, and she got out, finding her was a challenge. Luckily she is known around the neighborhood so she was returned home shortley.

Days Later I came out to go to work and found a very LARGE dead bird behind my car. It was so sad. I am not talking a small little bird that fell from the trees, this was a huge bird. After further examination, I found out that there was a huge gash in the bird. Probably guessing this is why he was dead, but I wonder what happened.

And yes I was sad....

I was really sad and Millie kept trying to move and play with the bird. Since garbage day had just happened I didn't want to throw the bird in the trash and have it sit for a week and rot, so I thought I would bury it when I got home from work. I put it in a box and put the box in my carport. Apon returning from work, I found the box tipped over and the bird gone. The whole thing was just gone. It was crazy! So much for burying it.

New Jenkins Family Member

Tony and Karen had their baby girl. They named her Lela Jenkins and she was 6 lbs 5 oz. Tony calls her little sis, which I absolutley love. She is adorable.

Kennedy and Cooper just love when Lela comes around. We went to dinner as a family and they just loved her and how small she was.

I couldn't help put post this picture of Delaney and JJ. Cooper had put a toy bluetooth on her ear and it was hilarious. Toys these days. When I was a little kid the idea of bluetooth wasn't even around let alone toy versions of that weren't even around. Times have changed.

First Boating of the Summer

Friday May 13th was my first time out boating for the season. You might ask yourself if this is a little early to be out boating.. Yes it is. Thankfully I had my full wet suit on. Water temp was 54 and it was glass. Perfect for wake boarding. Kimmy, Dan and I had a great evening on the lake. It was a perfect superstition free weekend. After a nice boat ride, I decided it was too nice of water to not go.

The sunset was awesome and we just sat and chilled on the boat listening to Adele. Great times, great tunes, great weather.

Tradition is for Kimmy and I to cuddle. When we had a gathering at the motorhome last summer Kimmy and I cuddled. We captured it on camera, so we thought we would continue the tradition.. Kimmy insisted she wrapped her arms around me. What can I say.. I am a good cuddler!

House Makeover

Since I moved into the house the color of my house has always has alwasy bothered me. It was this creme (with a hint of peach) color and it just looked dirty and gross. So I finally got around to having it painted. I went with a really dark grey color, but I like it.

I used white and red accent colors and I think it turned out well. The house look a ton better, and with my new white fence that is going in the house doesn't look as white trash as it used to.

Luckily the weather was nice enought for several days in a row to allow for it to be painted.

Also my sister-in-law has this cute star wall in their bedroom at their house. I always loved the idea, so awhile back I started collected stars. I wanted to put them on my back porch, but didn't want to hang them until I repainted the house. So I finally got them hung.

As you can see I still need a few more.. So if you are ever out and about and see metal stars, let me know.

Shed

So I am not the typical girl... I get so excited when I get new tools. Call me crazy, but I just love them. I have wanted a miter saw for some time now, but I broke down and bought one. Wish some people could have been over to see my excitement. You would have thought it was Christmas morning. I was like a gitty kid. So what better way to start a shed project, then with buying a new saw! Pure joy!

After much contemplation I decided that I wanted to build a shed in the backyard where my firepit was. I figured it would be a quick project if I just bought a tuff shed. After much research I figured out tuff shed was super expensive. Being practical I thought, I can build the same size shed for WAY cheaper. So after pricing it out.. I headed to home depot.

Being naive I thought I could get the shed up in a weekend.... Boy was I wrong

Framing went really well. This is with two walls up. I was thankful for a compressor and frame nailer.

Things with the shed went really well. The siding was a little hard to get up. Thanks Dave and Grover for being a part of that lovely experience.

Millie was a huge fan of the new shed. She would just hang out in there. She also was a fan of all the wood laying around. While building it I think she ate a whole 2X4 during the process.

I thought that building my own trusses would save me a ton of money... what I didn't realize is that they would be extremely time consuming... note to anyone building a shed. Eat the extra cost and buy premade trusses.

Inside I put up peg board on two of the walls. The stuff was a little pricey, but I am excited to hang all my tools up.

The shed getting really close to being done. Shingles are heavy. They should warn people of that. So I headed into home depot to buy them, not knowing they weighed a ton for a bundle. As I am in the eisle struggling not one home depot person offered to help. It's ok though.. I am a tuff girl. Getting them on the cart was nothing compared to how the heck I was going to get them up on top of the shed to put them down. Thankfully I had help!

It was an awesome project! Took way longer than I wanted or expected, but they always do. They shed has since been painted the same color as my house (I repainted the exterior of my house- I will post shortly). I just need to put the trim on it. Now if the weather would not act like March in May, then I might be able to get this done.

Backyard Mess/Tree Removal/ New Fence

So I am the queen of starting huge projects and almost finishing them, but leaving the little details to get unfinished. I hate it about myself. So before the basement is 100% complete I decided to tackle a different LARGE project outside. I don't even know where to start on this blog post... so here it goes.

Since I moved in Millie has been able to jump my fence in the back yard. It has made leaving her in the backyard during the day very difficult. So I decided this spring to replace the fence. It was much needed anyway, since the whole south side was pretty much completely falling down. So after several overpriced bids, I figured with some help it could be managed on my own. MISTAKE #1... but needless to say I moved forward with project.

Part of the reason my fence was a disaster on the south side was due to this huge tree in the backyard.

The fence was hardly together on the one side due to the root growing!

So the first part of the project was to cut the tree down! Had to barrow my brothers truck and bobcat to haul it all off. I called Provo city for some help, since my power line went right through the tree, but they were unwilling since it wasn't a main power line! They were extremely unhelpful. They did inform me that since they were not willing to help, that if I damanged the power line at all I would have to pay for it.

I did enjoy driving the bobcat and dumping the huge parts on the tree in the trailer.

As you can see in the pictures the tree was unique to say the least. Not to mention that it was hallow in the center on a lot of the branches. Kind of cool! I love the below picture. The sun was setting one night and it looked awesome.

Once all the main branches and stuff was hauled away we still have this massive stump to deal with. So a friend of a friend that works at Provo city (he cuts trees down for his job), came and helped cut the bottom with his huge chain saw!

This picutre kind of gives you an idea of actually how big this root of this tree was!

Once we started taking the tree down the rest of the fence just fell over. Now I have to go outside with Millie everytime she has to go the bathroom. Not my favorite things, especially at 5 in the morning when she gets up.

Since I had the bobcat I decided to rip out a small cement riser that was on the side of the house. With the fence going in, it had to go. This is the truck all loaded up with the cement. It wasn't an easy.

With all the cement gone and the area leveled some posts finally got put in. So I am making progress.

Now I just need a few more hours in each day to work on this project.

Triathlon Nightmares

So I haven't publically announced this on my blog yet, but I am doing the
Boise Half Ironman in June 11th.
I am super excited, nervous, scared and a lot more emotions, but nonetheless I am doing it.

Jenny Lane, Ryan Grover, and Steven Hubbard did it last year and I had a blast going up and watching her race. So after seeing it, I had a brave moment and registered. I am continually wondering why each and every day.

As the countdown gets closer I get more nervous for the swim... Thank you Jen for posting this on my wall and making me laugh. I thought I would share it with everyone. If you haven't ever done a tri this is slightly how you feel when you enter the water for the swim portion.

So the only thing I can do is get in the pool and swim more and hope I can get an open water swim in before the race.

Basement Remodel- New Bathroom

So when I decided to remodel the basement, I ADDED a bathroom. There was no bathroom downstairs, just this creepy old scary cold storage room. It was one of those rooms that I never dared enter unless I absolutely had to.

It was a huge process and I probably should post more of the photo's. Eventually I will, but for now I finally got the bathroom 98% done. I have a few little things to finish up.

This was a long, FUN project. Besides putting in the sump pump I did everything on my own (and some help from friends).

I decided a long time ago I wanted to make the vanity and countertop. It was a lot of work, but worth it.

The countertop is a cement countertop I made. I created the mold and poured the cement. It turned out really cool. I placed a bike chain around the outside for a decorative border.

The walls are a grey and I picked tourquise for the accent colors.

It was a lot of fun decorating.

Tiling the whole floor and walls took forevery, but it looked really good!

This tiny window was a great addition. Made tiling a little tricky.

The below picture is super dark, but kind of gives you an idea about the bathroom.

Glad that this big project is mostly done. Now I just need to get motivated and finish the small things like baseboards, and finalizing the doors.

Venice The Second Day..

We started the morning off right..breakfast at the hotel was delicious. The weather outside was fantastic and we were ready to go.. All of us had our rain boots on, except Blake. So as we came out of the hotel, we came across water. I was very kind to give Blake a piggyback to dry ground.

Blake didn't say much, but I know he was very thankful!

Since Jen had her leak proof boots, she always seemed to find herself in the water. The below picture was the outside street of out hotel.

I absolutely love this picture. Gary snapped this photo of Jen. She didn't, know and I love the lighting, her face, and how she is standing.

We spent the morning touring Venice. It was really awesome. The history of the city was fasinating.

San Marco Piazza was flooded with water. When the streets and piazzas fill with water they put up these folding tables to walk on until you get to dry ground.. Pictures later.

We ate lunch at this yummy place on the water. Our lunch turned sad, when Blake received word his grandfather had passed away. We all felt so bad.

After watching the sun set we decided to take a gondola ride through Venice. The city was quiet and it was so peaceful. Our Gondola guide spoke wonderful English and gave us awesome history and info about Venice.

Venice Italy

Day 4
We boarded a sleeper train in Paris. It was Blakes first time on a train so we were all excited for him. Gary got a great interview, but we think the flip got left on the train..

Us just settling in for a night of sleep and travel.

We arrived in Venice bright and early. We didn't have a hotel booked, so that was the first order of business. We had searched the internet a bit for a hotel with room for four. So we walked to the closest one. Now Venice is amazing, but when it is rainy season and you are hauling a lot of luggage it can be not so fun..

The scenery around us was fantastic, but every time we had to cross a canal and carry all our bags up and down the bridges (with stairs on them) it got exhausting.

Jen and I's bags were definitely the heaviest.. Go figure. So we kept swapping carrying them up the stairs.

We didn't really know where we were going.. We had the GPS out helping us, but with the narrow streets it kept loosing satellite signal so we got a little lost once or twice..

At one point we walked down this tiny street.. As we neared the end, we were in between two buildings that were clearly part of a school. The kids had a break so they were out smoking and going back and forth between the buildings. So here were the four of us making our way down this alley with luggage and they were looking at us all weird. After we all passed them we got to the end of the alley to water.. No walkway or corner to turn. Just water, so we all struggled to turn around and had walk past everyone again. They probably were just laughing at us.

We finally found this cute hotel that was perfect for us. Only two slight problems.. We had about 4 flights of steep stairs to climb to our room after we checked in. After walking for an hour through the streets of Venice, I was exhausted and starving. So getting to the room was a challenge. I was dying of heat!

Venice was amazing.. It is like nothing you have ever seen or experienced. The whole city is on water, and it was not uncommon to walk to the end of a street and see this.

Something to note about our trip.. While planning it we had been watching the weather and it said it was supposed to rain every single day except the last Saturday. This wasn't just saying this in Paris or Venice, but also in Rome. So at this point on the trip we had only seen rain the night in Paris at the Eiffel Tower, but other than that we had really nice weather. The day we arrived in Venice was no exceptions. It was wonderful weather.

In a normal city there are buses or metro's, but in Venice there are water buses or water taxi's. It is crazy. This is Jen and Gary on the bus.

It wouldn't be Italy without some Gelato. Jen was in heaven. Every corner had a Gelato shop, with hundreds of flavors.. However could
a girl choose.

Solution: Gelato several times a day with two different flavor scoops each time.

We toured Venice the first several hours by foot... Finally we decided to save our feet and take the water bus. We covered way more ground.

We went to San Marco piazza. Thus began the staggered photos you will start to see. We can thank Gary for starting the ks poses as we called them.

Before the trip Jen has picked herself up some grey Hunter rain boots. Probably the best purchase she made for the trip. She thought she would test out how waterproof they were!

As Jen would say, it was like she was photoshopped into this photo. It was picture perfect, and we were living in it.

They don't leak

The scenery was amazing..

I could have spent hours there taking pictures. It was spectacular.

So I didn't notice this until after, but take note of the two below pictures. I took them within minutes of each other. Although it is remarkable the change in lighting and stuff (thanks to a great camera and settings), that is not what to take note of. In the first picture the crane in the distance is facing right, in the second picture it is facing left. So crazy.

I absolutely love this picture. The sun was setting and Venice was beautiful. I couldn't help but stop and enjoy then moment.

One of the many times we walked down a road that only lead to the grand canal and nowhere to go, except back the way we came.

Day 3 Paris France

Day 3
We headed back to the Eiffel Tower to go up to the top. It was freezing cold. The wind was blowing and it was bone chilling cold.

The boys weren't super impressed with the Eiffel Tower ascent until they started reading that Gustavo Eiffel (the man who designed and built the Eiffel Tower) did experiments of throwing dead bodies off the tower to study bodies resistance to gravity. That made the Eiffel Tower a ton cooler in their minds!!

After we went to Notre Dame. We had a lot of fun taking pictures with the birds and playing out front.

Jen was having a photo shoot by Gary and doing all these poses on the light post. This Chinese guy walking by snapped a few photos of her and then kept walking, but each time she changed her pose he couldn't resist stopping and taking another picture. It was really funny. I can just imagine him returning home and showing family and friends pictures of his trip and then pictures of some random girl show up..

Now might be a good time to explain that throughout the trip we have been calling Gary "Papa Gary" or just "Papa". He has this valuable pouch that he has been wearing under his shirt and jacket. He has been so kind to carry all our cash, passports and cc cards. So throughout the trip if we need anything we have gone to Gary. Hence why we started calling him Papa Gar..

Ok so I hate this photo, but I had to post it.. We were taking pictures and Jen had Gary's camera and snapped this photo...To explain...Gary was holding this bird and I leaned in to get closer for a photo Blake was going to take. Then the bird flew right in front of me and scared me to death.. Hence why I look the way I do. We have had some pretty good laughs about the picture.

Since it was freezing cold Gary wanted to buy a beanie so his head wouldn't freeze. So we found this little shop to the side of Notre Dame. The boys wanted to feel more European and fit in more so they bought scarves.

Gary found this fountain and snapped a few photos while Jen and I tried to find a place to exchange money.. At this point we had not changed any and were in need of Euros. Below is a picture of St. Michel fountain.

St Michel- Normandy Region France

Day 2
We woke up and are a wonderful breakfast at the hotel. We grabbed a few loaves of bread and jam packets for the road and we drove to St. Michel.

When we had pulled into Avranches the night before we were in need of gas, but decided to wait until the morning.. We forgot that it was Sunday and nothing would be open. With Blake driving we headed out to St. Michel with little gas in the tank.

Touring this place was amusing. People actually live and worship out there. You could tell this place was just full of secret tunnels and passage ways. It was amazing. Blake and Gary were like teenage kids.. So eager to explore every hall, door and opening they possibly could. It was so comical!!

I came around this corner to see this wonderful garden. It looked so amazing on the corners of this cathedral. It is simply remarkable how they utilize their space and needs.

This picture makes me laugh so hard.. Kind of bad, more just so funny. This gives a inkling if insight to how Gary and Blake were throughout the whole trip and tour.. There are plenty more just like it.

We ate lunch at a small cafe style place.. It was pretty good food, but the lady was not friendly.. We found cherry coke, which was a shocker.. So we all bought one and enjoyed!!

St Michel was a beautiful tour. We had some good laughs, and made some tourist laugh.

After we left we had the realization that we had no Euro's, no cards that worked in their gas pumps and NO GAS.. Our gas light had been on since the night before. Gary was stressed, Blake wasn't worried at all, and Jen and I just kept praying we didn't run out of gas. Gary actually was sick to his stomach he was so worried. We jumped on the freeway and about 40 kilometer later found a gas station that was open! It was a relief!

We continued our travel into downtown Paris. It started to rain and the traffic was bad, but Blake did a good job driving. Thank you again GPS. We headed to our one and only booked hotel for the whole trip. It was in a tiny street and I think we drove around the block, hotel and area at least three times, before finally parking several blocks away and hauling our luggage there. We were lucky to even find the parking spot we did. The hotel was definitely not as nice as it had been advertised on the Internet, but it worked and it slept four.

After we got back in the car... (had been in the car most the day) we headed to the airport to return the rental car. Again another funny adventure. Thank you GPS for getting us there, even though several times you thought we were on the right, road, but then would say.. RECALCULATING..

On the train ride back at 11:00 pm we decided to make a detour to the Eiffel Tour to snap a few pics at night..

We emerged the train station to rain coming down, but we were in Paris and we didn't seem to mind.

It was a great day and we were exhausted by the time we got back to the hotel room.

That night Gary took some ibuprofen pm and nyquil. I was peacefully sleeping in bed when all the sudden the hotel door opens and Gary is poking his head outside the room. He was asking where he was.. After Blake told him, he came and crawled in my twin bed with me and fell asleep.. So bizarre right.. Half asleep and being under the covers and Gary on top I was pinned.. After a bit I woke up dying of heat and had to get up. Me moving woke up Gary.. He sits up and asks " what are you doing.. I had no idea you were back there". Back there... I was in bed the whole time.. So I got up and moved to Gary's bed. The following morning we laughed so hard I was crying.. oh GARY!

Paris/Normandy France

Day 1
We arrived in Paris around 5:30 in the morning and rented the awesome pale yellow Panda Fiat. I had searched the Internet and found a good deal on a car that held 4 passengers and luggage for four. Boy were we fooled. We laughed for a good while in the parking lot at how everything was going to fit.

Some how we managed to pack everything in. Two pieced of luggage had to go in the back seat with us. So we loaded up and drove out to the Normandy region of France.

This was the Panda parked next to a normal car over here. Just gives you an idea of how small it was.

Jen and Gary double dog dared Blake to eat this mushroom that was growing. So he picked it and tasted a piece. Like Jen said you can never pass up a double dog dare.

There were monuments all along the coast from the invasion of Normandy

Omaha Beach at Normandy. It was amazing to be there. I can't express the feelings and realization of the magnitude of the whole event. It really gave a lot of insight and new meaning to the war.

9,700 soldiers are buried there. They were buried in temporary locations until they finalized the cemetery after the war

Thanks to Gary and the GPS from Andy and Em we made it to where we wanted to go. After a long day we pulled into a little town called Avranches and found a hotel called B&B Hotel. No not actually a bed and breakfast, but the hotel was perfect for us. The main floor had a queen bed and up some steep set of stairs was a loft with two twin beds. It was delightful!

Nitro Circus at APX Alarm

October 9th, I planned a huge Year End Party for APX Alarm. We transformed APX's front lawn into a dirt biking course. Grand stands and all, we packed in thousands of APX employees for a killer show put on by the Nitro boys. Nitro Circus posted the following video on their website...

We was so much fun putting this all together. It was a ton of work, but I loved it. All of the guys were so nice, and it was fun to get to know them a little bit.

New iPhone Software

I want to personal thank Apple for releasing the new iPhone software. Being a personal assistant, I have to manage 3 calendars for work. With the previous software you were only allowed one Microsoft Outlook on each iPhone. With the new software you can have multiple Outlook accounts. So the juggling of three schedules is solved. I now have all three on my phone and can book appointments way faster and with ease!

So Jen and I went to St. George for both of our first Triathlons. I signed up to do the Sprint and Jen did the Olympic.

Jen's parents and sister made the voyage with us and it was so fun to have them there. We headed down on Friday and crashed at my parents house, which was perfect for all of us. We headed out to get registered on Friday night and Jen and I thought we needed a little pre swim to get a feel for swimming in open water.

Since Jen is a rock star, she did the Olympic. She started about a half hour before me so this is her coming out of the water.

This was me waiting to swim. It was so hot, but the water was pretty cold, so it felt good. Funny story about. I had just gotten in the water and I found this rock (I am standing on it right now). Since I was one of the first to get in the water right after this picture it got pretty crowded. I was standing on my rock next to this girl I had met (she is on the left of me). All of the sudden this girl comes in and pushes me of the rock I was standing on and gets up on it. I was pissed. Me being the person I am I didn't do anything about it. My new friend I had met after about 30 seconds turns around and pushes the girl off the rock so I could get back on. The girl turned around all bugged and then swam to the outside of the group. It was funny.

10 weeks... count down begins

I have committed to do a full Olympic triathlon in August in Bear Lake. So I have 10 weeks to get in shape. Training started this morning. Millie and I headed out for a run this morning. I came across this picture and it made me think how little Millie used to be.

I spent the first half of the run fighting Millie. She would run faster than me, so I would have to pull her back. Then she would find something and stop and I would keep running to only get yanked back when we hit the end of the leash. I think she got a little tired because the second half of the run she was a much better. She was tired and when we got home she just layed on the cold cement. All in all the first day of running was good.

The other night I took Millie up to Deer Creek for a little swim.. She was in Heaven! She loved every second of it.

She just kept wanting me to throw it again and agian.

Boise Half Ironman

I headed to Boise this weekend for the Boise Half Iron man. My good friends Jen and Grover were doing it. Friday we started the long drive up to Boise. We got to Boise just in time for Jen to register and get a picture at the finish line ...

It was AMAZING to see this race. It started in Lucky Peak Reservoir, which was beautiful. The weather was perfect. Once we parked we had a nice little hit to get to the reservoir. Everyone was excited...

They dropped their bikes and got ready for the swim.

After the swim we ran a few errands and then headed downtown to see the bike to run transition. We missed Grover int he transition and first lap run, but we got to see Jen.

I was truly so inspired and seeing the race was awesome. I am so glad I went up. Kirk and Marylane Newman were so awesome to let me tag along. It really made me want to do it... So I have high hopes for next year doing it! I know it seems crazy, but watching the race really made me want to do it.

On top of seeing the race I fell in love with Boise. The whole city was so awesome. It felt like a mix between Colorado and Salt Lake City. Lucky Peak reservoir was so pretty.

New things... an update.. and a disaster

It was Emily's birthday on Mother's day. The family all got together to celebrate and have dinner. It was a lot of fun.

Jen and I went to St. George to do the St. George Tri. I will post about that later as well... upon arriving home I left my bags in the front room for a bit. (I have a hard time unpacking after trips.) When I returned home from work on Monday this is what I walked into.

my oh so special Millie had found a few items she wanted to get into. One of which was my antibotic. Little pink and blue pills were everywhere. I was a little freaked out that maybe she ate them, but as I put them all in the container it appeared that not one single more pill would fit (it was a brand new perscription). So I assumed she was ok!

On that flip side of my crazy dog, she is the best dog at night and loves to cuddle up and watch tv. This was her doing just that!

Spring/Summer has approached us and that means it is always the best time to own a shedding dog.... Wait I am kidding. Millie is shedding like crazy. She rubs up against my green chair and it is so funny to watch. So after watching her do this for days I decided to give her a nice brush. This was after two times.... Can we say GROSS!

Oh the joys of being a single GIRL and owning a house... I decided to get the sprinklers going for the spring.. Turned them on and was soaked from the backflow having a crack from the winter. I hate sprinkling systems.

On a much lighter note, I got some new kicks.. I sure like them (Thank you Jen and Kim for inspiring me)

2010 Twilight Concert Series

The 2010 Twilight Concert Series is starting in July. They announced that they will be held at Pioneer Park instead of the Gallivan Center like last year.

California Yankees vs Angels

The Yankees played the Angels in Anaheim so Gary Andersen from work and I went out there to see the games. Our seats were 7th row behind the Yankees dugout. They were awesome. The game on Friday was chilly.. ok by the end I was freezing cold! The Yankees sadly did not win Friday night, but they had an awesome firework show after the game.

Saturday we got up and went to Disneyland for a few hours. We rode my favorite roller coaster. Gary convinced me to ride the blast off ride where it launches you up really fast. I always say yes to those rides, but then hate them when I am on them. Right before we took off, Gary looked over and asked if I was going to throw up. Apparently I didn't look to good!

The Yankees game was at 1:00 so we headed to the game in the afternoon.

Saturday was really hot and it was nice to be out in the sun.

At the game we had these Awesome foot long HOT DOGS with onions and peppers. This is Gary going to town on his.

The girls and the kids of the JENKINS clan headed to california in February for some sun, and fun at disneyland. We flew out early Tuesday morning and it was Baby Owen's first flight.

I had a cold, so flying and the pressure was not fun on my ears. I cried on the landing from the pain and then spent the next day and a half with my ears completely plugged. I couldn't hear, and hearing myself talk was making me crazy. Needless to say I was miserable. After some serious tears, instacare calls, and a stop off at the pharamacy I was still sick.

The first day we landed we went to Long Beach Aquarium. It ws so much fun. We pet sting rays and sharks, saw jelly fish, and had a blast with the kids.

I am so intriqued with Jelly Fish. They way they move, and everything about them make me want to touch them and learn about them. These pictures I thought were cool.

The last day we just hung out. We took pictures in the photo booth, rode this car, and they begged Emily to buy this snow globe. It was pretty funny.

Kennedy fell asleep on the way to the airport so I carried her all the way through security (that was a chore to get my boots off while still holding her), on the plane, and she didn't wake up until we arrived in SLC. She was one tired girl from all the California fun!

Hawaii... Trip 2

In December I went back to Hawaii with work. Anne Marie and I were in charge of planning the trip so we got to go. We stayed at the Grand Wailea on Mauii. It was such an AMAZING trip. I had so much fun, and it was nice to get to know my fellow workers on a different level. 11 days in the Hawaii sun was wonderful, and we arrived home just in time for Christmas. It was fantastic.

The majority of the group was married, so it was nice to have Anne Marie, Ryan, Gary and Blake to run around with the whole trip.

One day we drove the back way to Hanna to these waterfalls. They are so pretty, and we had some fun jumping off of them.

After we stopped at this place on the side of the road. They make smoothies from a pedal bike that powers the blender. Smoothie wasn't the best, but it was a fun experience.

We hit the local Wave Rider and attempted to surf. Everyone had some serious bumps and bruises.

One morning Anne Marie and I tried very hard to convince the guys to drive up to Haleakala to see the sunrise. None of them would get out of bed and go with us. So we made the journey alone. After a really early start, a long curvy road we made it to the top and it was FREEZING! Hoodies and blankets were not even helping. After attempting to see the sunrise (you couldn't really see anything due to the mist and clouds) we jumped back in the car, cranked the heat up and took a nap. After we made the long drive back. A long journey for a whole lot of nothing really!

These pictures were from my first Hawaii trip that I never got around to posting.

One day on the beach I wanted to build sand castle. So I gathered some people and we started making one. I got a little bored and started a water fight, which I lost horrible and ended up in the ocean with all my clothes on. Here is the final product.

We ate dinner at some wonderful places and had a blast.

From my first Hawaii trip I didn't post about the day out snorkeling. We took this boat around one of the islands. We swam with awesome fish, saw an ancient boat, and were right next to dolphins on the boat. It was beautiful. So here are those pictures!

I was lucky enough to go to the Superbowl in February. The Miami weather was not as warm as I had hoped it would be so by the time the game started I was freezing.

The parking lots were full of activities and games. They had the football hall of fame walk, concerts, food and so much more.

This was a guy that was sitting behind us a few rows. He was completely being crazy and during the whole game I tried tracking how many beers he had, but I lost track.

Bought a cello....

So years ago I fell in love with the Cello. I used to sit next to the 1st seat cello player when I played in the orchestra. Ever since then I have loved it. For years I have said I wanted to learn to play the Cello. Several months ago I started looking for fun at purchasing a Cello. Finally today after looking I couldn't pass up this amazing deal to buy one. Yes that is right, I bought a Cello. I am the proud new owner of this cello.

So last night I was sitting at home watching TV when I say this commercial for Sour Patch Kids. I was by myself and after it was over I was laughing out loud so hard. I could not stop laughing. Thanks to DVR I re watched it laughed even harder. Tears were streaming down my face. I was wrapped up in blankets and from laughing so hard I fell of the couch. Anyway I had to share it with everyone. You should check out a few other Sour Patch kids commercials.. they are really funny as well.

Baby Owen Cash Jenkins was born December 5th at 7 lbs. 1 oz. and was 21 inches long... He had a head of blonde hair and is so handsome. He is a such a calm baby and I just adore him..

For Christmas my family draw's names and I had Baby Owen. I was excited to give them a photo shoot from Stephanie Gardner from Giovanna Lou Photography. Here are a few from her.

Hawaii... Trip 1

I went to Hawaii in the middle of October. It was a much needed trip from work and to relax. Stayed in Kahana and soaked up the sun. Having been to the island of Maui when I was 5, I remembered so little so it was fun to do all the tourist things.

I woke up one day to this sight! It was beautiful.

Went to the largest Banyan tree in the U.S. which is located in Lahaina. It was massive.

We did the Road to Hana on a bus tour, which was both beautiful, fun and horrible and sickening all at the same time.

Also found this awesome store called Dan's Greenhouse. They sell indoor bonsai tree's in lava rocks. They are awesome. They also had baby pigs there that you could feed and awesome birds to hold.

This little lizard was outside of a small place we had some great pizza. It was pretty funny!

JJ and Brandy were married September 5th (also Andy & Emily's and Tony & Karen's Anniversary). They had a beautiful wedding at the Galivan Center. As always my Mom did a wonderful job decorating and make the place look spectacular. It was a fun celebration and I am so happy for both of them.

A few weekends ago my Dad's side of the family all met up in Fish Lake for a mini family reunion. It was fun to see all my cousins, second cousins, aunts and uncles and Great Aunt and Uncles.

My Dad's Uncle Wayne and Aunt Verl joined us for an afternoon. A little history about them. They are in their 90's and are going strong. Uncle Wayne had just turned 94 and we celebrated with birthday cake. Also that day they were celebrating their wedding anniversary so it was a good day. My Great Aunt and Uncles Bud and Zonnie, and Wayne and Verl have property up in fish lake and used to spend a lot of time up there. Growing up we all have had great memories of being there and so it was fun to go back as a family and spend some time with them. It was cold... snow cold, but we had a lot of fun. We had games, and four wheelers and camp fires and wonderful meals cooked by each family.

Kennedy has had this bond with Uncle Wayne since our last fish lake trip. She sat on his lap for hours. This time she jumped up on his lap and chatted his ear off. It was so funny. She opened her Spree's candy and shared them with him and he wasn't too impressed with the hardness of it.

As we were leaving on Sunday I was helping Andy load up all the four wheelers and bikes on the trailer and a snow/hail storm rolled in. It was a bitter sweet. I loved seeing snow fall, but it was so darn windy and cold getting those tie downs on. All in all the weekend was so fun and full of so many great memories.

Lotoja 2009

I ran support for the Lotoja 2009 race this year. I would not say that it was fun... but it was definitely a moving experience.

Lotoja.. is a 206 mile bike race from Logan to Jackson Hole Wyoming in one day. First riders leave at 5:45 a.m. and the last riders have to be to Jackson Hole before dark.

I ran support for Alex and Jason and lets just say it was a long day. At 2:45 a.m. my alarm went off and was on the road at 3:15. Drove to Logan and met up with Jason and Erin (who were smart and stayed in Logan the night before). The guys took off at 5:47 a.m. and I got gas and hit the road. I didn't have to run support at the first two feed zone, so I took a nice scenic drive towards bear lake. I was exhausted and tried to take a nice snooze before the guys rolled in. I ran into the Seiverts and the Sepulvedas. After the boys passed then I played leap frog all day. I would drive forward and take pictures, pass the guys again and head to the feed zones. Thanks to Niki and her kids, it made the day better. After the last feed zone I hurried to the finish line so I could snap some pictures of the guys and Erin coming in. It was a moving experience seeing people be on their bikes for 206 miles. I saw so many emotions out of so many people and I felt for them. Finishing Lotoja is such an accomplishment and it inspired me to want to do it next year.

Anyway it was fun taking pictures of the guys and lets just say it was nice to finally get out of the car.

My Dad and Tony were supposed to ride Lotoja with the Lexus team. Due to my Dad's serious accident and Tony getting hit by a car and not having a bike for some time, they both were not able to ride it this year. So as I stayed at the finish line to watch them come through it was a bitter sweet feeling. I felt bad that they couldn't participate, but it was nice to see Chris and Rick come through and finish strong.

Harlem...

Harlem is getting huge... Well he is still small, but I feel like he is getting huge. Having never owned cats I am intrigued with all the funny things he does. It has been hilarious watching him grow and slowly get out of his awkward phase and learn to hop up on things, run, and chase Millie. So I thought I would post a few updated pictures.

Harlem is a little squaky... especially around meal time.

The other day I came around the corner to find this... He was hanging out in Millie's water dish. It was pretty funny.

A couple of weeks ago I have sitting on the couch and Harlem was on my lap as usual. I was playing with him and he was chasing my finger and then all the sudden he was out... I was rubbing his paw and he was dead asleep. This was how he was laying.

So I haven't blogged in an eternity... the reason is that I have been so busy. With work, life and events going on I haven't made or found time to blog. Thanks to a wonderful vacation in Hawaii this week I hope to catch up on all the fun events..

Sometimes in life you come across some great things and you want them.... these are two items. The arm warmers are just straight awesome.....

The snoopy suitcase is a dream come true. Totally one of those bags you have when you are a little kid and then it disappears. I found this in a room at Alex's house and fell in love with it. Too bad it isn't mine and I can't have it. I carried it around for a full day just because I thought it was so awesome.

My sister-in-law has a strawberry shortcake one that my niece Kennedy now uses. Again the classic little suitcase that she had when she was little, and now totally a cool collectors item.

Lesson to parents and people... save your old stuff. Later in life and down the road your kids will use it and love it.

I have been doing more running/working out lately so I have had to buy a few things to help make it easier. I bought some running clothes from pearl zumi and love them. My next purchase was some Nike shoes. My other running shoes from high school were worn out... So I got a nice new pair. To help track my running I got the chip that links your ipod to your running shoes. I am impressed at how well I like it.... so I will keep running.....
